Filipina American Idol Hopeful

Ramial Malubay is an American Idol Hopeful! (forgive me if I misspelled your name )

Watching the American Idol, there's this Filipina who hopes to go all the way down to the end. Singing "You Make Me Feel Like A Woman" by Aretha Franklin, with all emotions and feelings, subtle and relaxed voice although you could tell she's a little nervous while singing but she did great. All three of them, Paula, Simon and Randy are adoring this cute little young lady, she's got clear voice, good tone and powerful insofar as her quality of voice (for a small girl like her) hehe. Hmm, who knows. She's got the potential whatcha think? But there's no denying there are a lot others who can really overpower the quality Ramial have, well, so far.

When she got out of the door after she performed, the guy whom I believe is her Dad is totally ecstatic and together they were walking on the street dancing, hehe. Hayyyy...

Her inspiration and the reason why she's believing she could make it is of course Jasmine Trias who is just promoting her album... sweet! I hope she makes it.

Under Construction

I spent all afternoon rebuilding my site. It always takes too long to reconstruct and and re-install all the widgets and everything plus they always have outage this afternoon that causes more delays and troubles saving your changes, please be patient I am trying to make some changes here what limited I know of it.

I got done working past 3pm this afternoon, tough day going on at work this morning, sigh... glad it's over now. Another day tomorrow though.

I will be working 3 days in a row starting tomorrow maybe 4 days but I'll be here when I could.

Are online social sites hurting our real lives?

Many people are stressed out trying to keep up with too many social Web sites.
You're LinkedIn. But how many Online social networks can you be on before it makes life a little too complicated?

It's only natural that social interactions today have moved to the web, since 65 per cent of Americans spend more time with the computers than with their significant others, (guilty, anyone?) according to a study by Kelton Research and Support.com. The average visit to a social network site lasts more than 21 minutes, up from almost 15 minutes last year, according to Hitwise an internet measurement company.

Teenagers visit each other online because parents keep them from seeing each other in person as often as they would like, Boyd says. College students use sites like Facebook as a procrastination tool. And the highest social network usage for adults is during weekdays, when they're supposed to be working.

Myspace and Facebook continue to dominate social networking --Myspace maintains about 72 per cent of the marketshare and Facebook holds 16 per cent, hmmm where's the friendster here??

So, how do you decide where to spend your time? It's all about organizing your socializing.

But social networking simply to network still fulfills a purpose of staying connected -- so connected that you know the minute your friends and acquaintances who live thousand of miles away update their profiles.

According to some research a certain percentage of marriage right now are products of revolutionary online dating that has evolved along with all the social networking over a decade ago.

Total Coolness of J'adore

Most of us women like fragrances, I like different scents to use everyday, but I'm the kind who would rather wear light body spray, I can't stand thick and strong perfume because of my ophthalmic migraine, I don't know the relevance of it but when I smell strong scent especially perfumes it makes me dizzy and sick :( but J'adore by Dior totally rocks! Along with other stuff my husband gave me last Christmas, I finally opened the thing. I was a little hesitant to to wear it if we're traveling by car because of my motion sickness and the sensitivity to any strong fragrance but it was totally absolutely intimate, good smelling but not strong.

"Absolute Femininity and Eternal Emotion. It is an alcohol-free moisturizing formula, which saves skin from the risk of dryness and guarantees comfort and suppleness. Not only that but when you wear it you feel fresh and the smell really lasts."

Just got back from work.

I am so overwhelmed and joyful for all the people who are visiting my blog and reading my entries, I hope you enjoy them. I really would like to create something that is really informative and is worth reading, but right now I just keep on writing whatever my heart feels. Tomorrow, I only work 8 hours so I have plenty of time in the afternoon, I am also in the process of creating another site all exclusively about phenomenons which my husband and I could both share writing, perhaps a podcast or a radio blog. This is so much fun, and I like meeting new people from around the world.

To: Yen
It represents how strong woman you are that no matter how complicated the situation you can always handle it. Also, how colorful your life is right now.
To: Avee
This tells how sweet you are and very optimistic lady.

To: Ate Amy (Francesca)
This is basically because of you sweet little cat, that I adore as well as I do you ate.

I am giving this card to you all my readers who visit my site and leave comments or just footprints, that's the only way I know you were here if you leave me comments or if I see you on my live traffic feed so, please do so.

I am going to be back tomorrow so I will see you all. Goodnight and good day.

Have fun blogging!

When I started blogging bit by bit last year I didn't think I would take it seriously, Ive had numerous accounts on blogging and would change the templates and customize them but then after all the work I've done I didn't get a chance to visit and update them on a regular basis but then, now I seem to be so into it and so addicted to it. It's so much fun fooling around and do whatever you want to do in it. What I like the most about blogger is that you can add lots of widgets that you want, change the templates to accentuate the look that you really want on your blog. There are so many free blog templates and site themes that you can find on the web, customize them on how you want your site to look like.

I've had a site which I would submit my work but it's draining my brain before I could even finish one whole thing, just one article! and they don't pay that much, like you got about 10 works that you've done but you earn about 36 cents. Ridiculous! yes, that's all. So I decided since I like writing and speak my heart out, I'm keeping on doing this. Not only that you have fun past time and you can really share what's happening to you or share your new discoveries to your friends, you can also earn by blogging. Also, you can meet new people and make friends with them as you build your communities. You can also monetize your blog, there are some great sites which you could submit your sites for review, if its approved then you can start accumulating bucks!

Right now, even though I am working about 70 hours a week, I still get to update my blogs and spend time on the web. It is so much fun and quite addicting. Before, if I have spare time, I would grab a book and read for hours, but now, I can only spend a few minutes reading and then back to blogging again :-( but it's ok either one of them makes me feel relaxed. Not only that I'm writing on my blog but I also have a project that I really want to do and finish this year. Ohh, how I wish.

Let’s Talk About Sex(uality)

Body and Mind

Abstinence may be a virtue, but teens need to know more about the ins and outs of sex ed
By Sam Graceffo, M.D.

Faith-based programs frequently are at odds with the findings of modern science. One such clash has occurred in the area of sex education. Almost everyone agrees that it is prudent to discourage very young people from early sexual activity, which can lead to unwanted pregnancy, HIV infection and sexually transmitted diseases. The question is how to achieve this goal in the most effective way.

Many programs throughout the country focus on abstinence, a faith-based approach widely supported by religious and governmental agencies. Congress recently approved $141 million for community-based abstinence education.

In spite of all this enthusiasm and funding, there is no evidence to prove abstinence-only programs work. One such investigation was published in the British Medical Journal and involved 15,000 U.S. youth. The conclusion was that abstinence-only programs did not affect the incidence of unprotected sex, number of partners, condom use, incidences of pregnancy, HIV infection or incidence of sexually transmitted infection.

In contrast, broadly ranging sex education programs with no moral agenda are highly successful. Check these results in a study involving 2,019 teens, published in the Journal of Adolescent Health: males were 71 percent less likely to have intercourse before age 15; females were 59 percent less likely to have intercourse before age 15; males were almost three times more likely to use birth control the first time they had intercourse; and African-American females in school were 91 percent less likely to have sex before 15.

According to lead author Trish Mueller, an epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Sex education seems to be working. It seems to be especially effective for populations that are usually at high risk.”

When teens are dealing with raging hormones in their bodies and mounting social pressure from peers, it seems obvious that simply telling them to say “no” is not going to be especially beneficial. Now that we have clear evidence showing what works and what does not, it is time to help our young people instead of backing worthless programs that sound good and make the supporters feel righteous. ❏

Rage of the Week

Angry at being mocked as a “nerd” over the Internet, Navy Fire Controlman 2nd Class Petty Officer Russell Tavares drove 1,300 miles from Virginia to Texas to confront his taunter and burned down the other man’s trailer. The feud began when John G. Anderson, who runs a haunted house outside Waco, posted online views that irked Tavares, whose screen name was “PyroDice.” The two argued back and forth until Tavares obtained Anderson’s name and address from the Museum of Horrors Haunted House’s Web site and headed for Texas. Authorities said he threw a piece of gasoline-soaked plastic foam into the back of Anderson’s mobile home and lit a flare.

“I didn’t think anybody was stupid enough to try to kill somebody over an Internet fight,” said Anderson, who the Associated Press reported planned to spend $30,000 to surround his home with fencing topped with barbed wire. “Before this happened,” he pointed out, “the rule was: Nobody messes with the haunted house guy.”

Silver Lining

Steven Earp, 48, was eating a breakfast sandwich while driving in Eugene, Ore., when he choked and passed out. He hit a parked car and regained consciousness, police Sgt. Doug Mozan said, calling Earp’s revival a “seatbelt-induced Heimlich maneuver.”

Photoshop the Bodies

When a China Airlines passenger jet exploded in flames at Okinawa’s Naha Airport, and photographs and video footage of the jet began appearing on news reports, the airline hastily painted over the name “China Airlines” on the left-hand side of the fuselage and over the company’s logo on the tail fin to limit further damage to its image. “We followed international procedures,” an official from the Taiwan-based airline told Mainichi Daily News.

Dose of Reality

When police arrested a 24-year-old woman for stealing $250 worth of groceries from a store in Burlington, Wis., she explained she took the items because her medication made her feel like she couldn’t be caught.

'It's Great to be Me!'

When I have nothing to do at my morning job, either I read paper or I talk endlessly with my manager (i know it doesn't seem like I have nothing to do). I happen to come by on " The Daily Dose" page of the Post Standard January 24 edition. This article captured my interest and thought of sharing this with you. It is written by a contributing writer Emme Aronson, a Syracuse University Graduate, the first plus-size model, a writer, teacher, entrepreneur, philantrophist. She was twice selected as one of the "50 Most Beautiful People", chosen as one of the "Most Important Women in America", she's been honored as a Glamour Magazine's "Woman of the Year" and as one of Biography Magazine 's "24 Most Influential Women".

Whenever I read about inspiring people be it a woman or a man, i take a closer look and make them as my inspiration on my hopes and goals.

On this article she shares her top 10 ways to "change our mirror image".

It's Great to be Me...

1. Without changing a thing, be bold and say you are beautiful, this second, this moment... right now!

2. Train yourself to say only nice, encouraging and sweet things about yourself when you look in the mirror. The more you do this, the better you'll be at it.

3. When you see your reflection in a window, ask yourself, "Who is that hottie?"

4. Write encouraging quotes on a sticky notes and place them on the mirrors in your bathroom and bedroom as prominent reminders that you are wonderful!

5. Make the effort to smile on the people you pass on the street, in the office and even with friends and family -- it's infectious.

6. Speak kindly and supportively to your sisters and friends who body-bash themselves to you. Never buy into such self-defeating behavior.

7. Avoid dieting or even discussing diets for a week and just live healthfully. Keep a journal on how it felt for you.

8. Thanks you body for being healthy, strong and powerful enough to withstand what you need from it every day.

9. Learn to listen to what your body says and do what it asks of you instead of trying to control, manipulate or change it into something it is not naturally supposed to be.

10. Get rid of worn, old and unflattering garments that don't make you feel good. Learn to dress clothes that are comfortable, fit well and highlights your assets, letting you shine when you walk into a room.

Hmm, the #9 applies to me the most given the fact that I work too hard. Guilty of #7, and I like #8 the most because it is my body that I use everyday for all that I do, but the #10 is kind of irrelevant? I like guidelines like this, helps me with my day in day out living and makes me feel like I am doing the right thing and following simple social rules.

Dinner alone again

It was an easy afternoon, power nap is always doing miracles, this morning I was so overtired. In fact yesterday, I got a little too overwhelmed and broke down in tears, it was a combination of everything at work, so much to do. Just wasn't a good day. But I felt better today although I must admit that I am getting tired, I'm just human but it doesn't mean I am going to give up, not me.

Having sub right now, alone :-( well, not really Rudy our dog is keeping me company, as always my loyal companion.

Oh, why are the days so short now, it is time to cuddle up with my pillow now. I have so many things to do. But I know I'm gonna have time this weekend, but at least I could still keep up, right?

Tomorrow I would like to have some photographs taking, I have some subjects in my min that I wanted to do today but I needed to take care of my body too, it's unhealthy abusing our body sometimes, well, always.

So, see you tomorrow. Have a good night.

It's about time...

I am working a small shift later on my second job, 4 hours. What a bliss! hehe But nope, don't get me wrong I'd rather work more hours but both of my employers are very understanding and they are flexible. they know when I need a small break to catch up with my sleep I got home at a little past 2pm I know I have time to nap but i figured how am I going to wake up on time without alarm and so here it is I stopped at the store and bought one. Nothing special about it but I think it an old school alarm clock. At least I'm not going to be late later.

Off for now, gotta get some rest.

22 January 2008

You Cheer me Up!

I got an award from an ever sweet little girl Yen, Thanks a lot Yen you made my day. It wasn't a very easy day for me. But you are making me smile. Also from reading your blogs.

Have a nice day.

Thanks to Coffee Existence

I am so energetic today, all I needed is caffeine, i was feeling a little tired when I woke up this morning, having a hard time to go on especially I didn't have alarm clock to really wake up my senses. Now, when I got to work this morning, waited a couple of hours and had a cup of coffee and that's it! It helps a lot to get my day going without getting tired and sleepy. Because if not, I'm telling you, everybody when they finds out I'm working 14 hours a day gives mouth wide open reaction, "wow, really??" I wanted to tell them I'm a human carabao, hahahaha they probably wouldn't get what I mean.

I don't even need to take a nap when I get home in the afternoon, but do some stuff and bloghopping and write some in here. I won't fall asleep if I try anyway. So, yeah, thanks.

Summer vacation hopefully.

Just the other day, my husband and I were discussing about having a vacation this coming summer. We are thinking on going to the Philippines for a week's vacation and a week in Caribbean or Mexico with his daughter. That's not a bad a idea? He gets burnt out of going to work and doing the same things every day so he needs a little break, he deserves it, why not? I am now getting excited, as soon as we finalize the plan we'll do the next step which is to find a nice hotel where we could check in, where we could totally relax and have fun.

One thing about visiting the Philippines again is seeing my family, oh how I miss them. I've been thinking about that this morning and getting really excited. I know we always talk about visitng Europe someday soon, but I am thinking it would be a good idea to do that after I finish college, to reward myself for a job well done! We both would like to go Greece, Paris, Rome and I want to go to Germany to see the castles, I don't know, something about Germany, it's always has a special place in my heart ever since I was a kid, my German Godparents live in Bonn, I believe. I would like to see the old, magnificent and elegantly built castles. But I believe after this summer plan the next plan would be going to Peru to visit the Mayan temple, hubby has been wanting to visit the place and I do too. it's very interesting to see.

Everything Bagel

I am having breakfast right now and heading to work really soon. I didn't have alarm clock today, as you know I washed my cellphone in washing machine I tried my best to make it back work again but to no avail, now I have no phone to use. Argh! Good thing hubby woke up at 20 of 5 and poke me on the side... *nudge, nudge* if not I would still have been in bed right now. I have to figure out later the digital clock on the dresser and set it up for one week's alarm. I hate to use it coz it wakes everybody up in the house, I'd rather a little quiet alarm, that I could only hear.

I am surely going to be here again later in the afternoon, so I will see you all. I have so many things that I want to write, valuable ones, but oh God the only thing I can write here is my day to day life, basically what comes out of my mind.

Have a nice morning.

20 January 2008

Extended weekend for hubby, what about me?

Ahh.. I wish I could extend the time, can a day be 48 hours? At the last minute I had to run at work, a few minutes after the football started my manager called me, "Do you realize you are scheduled to be here at 3:00?" I said, "No, I don't have schedule today" haha, I thought I could have the whole weekend off... But anyway, I went and made the 5 hours work, not too bad. Except I had to leave hubby home alone. It's ok, he's partying now, the giants are gonna play for the superbowl in 2 weeks, it was stressful for him he thought he would be crying all night. I can't believe how he's so into it.

But oh, well as always let's leave the past week with a smile and look forward for another good one. Ok? Wish I could spend more time with my new baby. But I have time tomorrow in between jobs. Hubby has now work today to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Happy Birthday Mr. King!

I'll see you tomorrow guys. Have a good day and night.

To Superbowl!

Whenever the giants have a game, the world stops here in NY, in general. Everybody is talking about football and nothing else matters. Giants vs. Packers. NFL. Can you imagine, its 25 below zero In Green Bay and they're playing. Poor kids. They are probably having frostbit. In spite of, Giants are doing great. You could tell from their looks they are getting tired and really cold. Nevertheless, after a few chances they made a final touchdown making it 23-20 victoryNe

People are storming all at the same time at the store to get snacks while they watch the game. No making of dinners, also time for some friends to get together at watch football together. Well, I don't blame Americans getting crazy about sports on TV during winter, you can't do outdoor activities or you wouldn't want to go out. It is about 7degrees fahrenheit over here but the windchill is well below zero. It's the only time I could feel I am in the US.

Carsss

I am working to buy my own car from my own money and sweat someday soon. I have been eyeing a Chevrolet Cavalier which you could buy for about a fairly amount brand new, I would say it is affordable on my limit and it is not too bad on gas, also the reviews on reliability are good. I wouldn't mind an SUV though if I could afford, I would want a Toyota Highlander, not necessarily brand new but not very old, know what I mean? My female boss on my very first job in the US was driving a 2007 Toyota Highlander and sometimes she would give me a ride and it was so smooth you can hardly even hear the sound from outside, not
even the sound of your own engine. I think it is advisable for me because I have motion sickness, less headache when driving.

While my co-worker drives a brand new Chevy Cavalier and talks about it highly, thing about it it's 2 door which i believe is less convenience.

I would, but right now I can't afford it yet, I have so many things to things about first, gotta save money for my tuition fee for the fall semester.

Bummer!

I have this bad memory failure sometimes, I am so forgetful I could cry right now. Hubby just did one more set of laundry today after we got home from downtown and I knew I checked the pockets of the sweat shirts and hoodies, and when i heard the washer 's buzzer go off I moved the clothes to the dryer and as I was finishing them i was scooping the last set I found my cellphone and it's shut-off, i always leave it on, and obviously completely wet and washed. I am so afraid I haven't told my husband yet but maybe when he reads this in a little while he would be really pissed off when he finds out. God, I hate when these kind of things happen, I now placed it on top of the heater in the bathroom, I am so hoping that I could turn it back on once it gets dried. Oh no, I don't know what to do. If it doesn't turn on again, we'll have to send it to some people who fix cellphones in Florida and it's gonna cost about the same price of the cellphone! I'm so worried now.

A peek of Central New York

This was taken on my first week in NY. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the place bu
t it's just a hill with an old restaurant with swimming pool on the other side where I was facing. Below is a golf course with a small pond.

In Syracuse University Campus when we watched the last season of football in the Carrier Dome in the same city. The Orange vs. Huskies, when we lost ragingly and painfully. Ouch!

Tornado In Mindoro

My sister and I got to talk this morning and said my eldest sister sent her a message saying they just had a tornado in Mindoro, in the town where they live, the roof of their fairly newly build concrete house was blown away by it. I remember, they had one too just a couple of years ago on the town just next to them wiping off the whole village, totally damaging the houses. People had to temporarily live in a shelter provided by the government. I hope it's not too bad there and they're safe, and also her children. My whole family in fact. I feel bad, I just got the news that my granny just passed away and now, this thing.

Wine by the Fire

I had to totally shut the computer off to finish some stuff I needed to do over here. Went to the store to get something for dinner. We agreed to cook tacos and cord for dinner and bought some nice wine. I made the tacos and now we're done with supper. Sipping wine by the fire and watching movie called 'Eastern Promise."
I wanted to work on my blog more but I promised my husband I would watch the movie with him. This sounds like a pretty good movie, so I'll be back once the movie is done. This is the only night we could stay up late together, it feels nice its warm in the house while its snowing hard and friggin cold outside.

People Who Inspire me

We all know that I work so hard for numerous reasons. I do it because I would like to prove to myself I could do it for one, to earn more money, to maximize my potentials and so on..

What actually drove me to do it are the people around me whom you will you be seeing on the list below: These are just some of them.

1. My husband who is ever patient and ever-supporting on whatever endeavor I would like to pursue. Would want to give him a nice retirement life that he deserves eventually.

2. Mary, My manager on my second job who is now 60 years old but can still lift a heavy box full of stuff, whether papers or foods. Who would grab a chair and fix our ceiling without asking anyone for help. She's been in the company for 32 years now.

3. Jason, my co-worker who is only 16 years but been in the company for 2 years now, he's in highschool in the village. Works almost 40 hours a week without neglecting school activities. He hopes to be a doctor someday

Lastly,

4. My Brother in the Philippines, a lawyer. Who, despite of all the hardships and difficulties in life finished the law school in flying colors. Pursuing his career in our hometown.

I've always used to dream so big since I was a child, and still. Dreams that are definitely beyond my comprehension at that time. And there are always things, experience and people that give me inspiration and be the best I can be.

Snowy Weekend

Snow flurries in Central New York! What else is new? Supposedly, its going to be so cold this weekend, fortunately it's not, but snowing so hard.

All morning I worked on this blog, and my other page but I couldn't do much about it it is so limited so I'm keeping these two bloggies at the same time and create a new one perhaps.

I know we planned to go to downtown for some shopping and dinner this afternoon after the basketball game but oh boy its so hard to get ourselves going. Too many things going on over here.

Maybe just hang out at home and make a nice dinner for later and watch a movie.

Newly Customized Features and All!

I have neglected this blog for a little bit but now I'm back for good. Just purchased my own domain name good for one year. Nice isn't it? I can do whatever I want now.

Of course, I still have some things I'd like to do here but it's a beginning.

It took me half the day to finish it, but its completely worth the time.
