Last weekend my Filipina friend that I met at the store brought me with her to the Oriental store downtown. I couldn't wait to get there to see what I can buy. Sooo excited. Well, I got some Jasmine rice, Silver Swan soy sauce, some ampalaya (bittergourd) that I never put in the fridge ended up in the garbage bin, waaaah I was so excited to cook it with eggs and tomatoes but oh no, when I was gonna cook them they had molds. Didn't know they rot pretty easily. I also got 2 cans of Ligo sardines that I savored right after I got home with the rice I bought. Husband liked the Jasmine rice, it's also very inexpensive compared to what we buy here at the store, not bad but this one is so yummy and the scent is all over the house. Oh, I also got a bottle of bagoong (salted fish). I checked out the whole store to see what I can buy next time when I drag my husband to buy a whole sack of rice for $23.00 dunno how many pounds it was but it was pretty good price let me tell you.
They also have whole tilapia with scales and head and everything, I don't think I could handle removing the scales, plus they are good sized tilapia. Not to mention how my husband would hate me when I fry the poor thing in the pan and the smell would penetrate through the carpet and the wall. I algo got munggo that I still have to figure out how to cook with the limited ingredients to go with it. I am sure I can cook it the way I want it. They also have tuyo, different kinds but I can't eat them at home anyways so I didn't bother. I can't wait to eat bagoong with just a pinch of keylime juice, awwww. Sarap! Patago yan. May patis din sila if I feel like frying eggplants ha!
